The city of Palm Springs embraced innovation and entrepreneurship on February 15th, 2024, opening Caravan SDBC, a small business development hub.
Renowned city officials like Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein, OCIE SBDC Network Director Mike Daniel, Assistant Deputy Director of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Chris Earl, and Caravan SBDC Director Carolina Rosas Saavedra attended the opening event. The ribbon-cutting ceremony paved the way for significant discussions on small business growth and potential partnerships.
Caravan SDBC, a project created with intent to support Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs, is projected to be a pivotal cornerstone for the startup ecosystem in Palm Springs and beyond. Providing resources and guidance tailored to the needs of Spanish-speaking startup owners, it envisions fostering a strong, diverse, and inclusive business landscape.
The center’s establishment illustrates not just the building of a business support hub but also the development of an entrepreneurial culture within the community, promoting the values of creativity, resilience, and responsibility.
This project comes as part of the Caravanserai Project, an initiative that fundamentally aims to nurture entrepreneurial culture by supporting emerging businesses, and pups to provide access to high-quality training, mentorship, and networking.
Recognizing the rapidly changing nature of business, it is adaptable to market volatilities and offers strategic advice, training, and critical skills to the entrepreneurs, besides assisting them in obtaining necessary capital, thus improving their chances for success.
Acclaimed journalist Jennifer Franco extensively covered the event and urged audiences to stay connected through dedicated apps and email alerts to stay updated with the latest business trends.
